This heavy duty barrel spring is designed for longer or heavier antennas that a standard spring cannot hold upright. Recommended for CB antennas over 5 feet long.
Springs are often a recommended to add on anytime if there is a chance that your CB antenna may strike obstacles such as tree limbs. CB springs offer stress relief that protects your antenna, antenna mount, and your vehicle from damage when antennas bounce off of tree limbs, garage doors, and similar obstacles. It is easy to forget that your CB antenna sticks up higher than the rest of your car or truck and smacking the tip against a foreign object can result in breakage or worse.
An extra heavy duty barrel spring can prevent the loss of radio service when you may need it most. Anytime you replace a two-way radio antenna, it will require tuning for lowest SWR. A stainless steel spring can save having to re-calibrate your radio setup after a mishap such as impact with low hanging objects.
